senri-gawa summer

08Aug05

Riding my bike over to The Hartland for my weekly language exchange with Naomi-san and Kishimoto-san, I was struck by how lovely Japanese summer evenings can be. The bike path follows the Senri-gawa for almost a mile and I swept along, my lantern light illuminating a small space in front of the bike, as I listened to the sound of the flowing river and steered around people who were out for their evening strolls, or walking their dogs. I think the cicadas won’t stop singing all summer long.
