There are a million shops along the Kurashiki River in the historical Bikan Quarter, including a very strange shop that sells, um, only cat items. And, um, a few cats. Please note the ears and the ‘cat-pattern’ apron being modeled by the storekeeper in the photo above. To the right of this is an enormous Plexiglas cage, about the size of a college student’s room, with three different rare breeds of cat lolling around inside and staring insouciantly at the two sixteen-year old girls who keep walking around the room, giggling, and snapping photos with their phonecams. All to the tune of “Jingle Bells,” sung by ‘cats.’
And don’t forget to play the kitty bandit while you wait out front!
